OUR FAVORITE JUMPSUITS THROUGHOUT HISTORY

Our love for jumpsuits spans over many generations and is ever-evolving into the future. We think there is no better place to start than Rosie the Riveter; whose iconic denim jumpsuit and bandana is recognizable around the world.

Rosie, who was the face associated with World War II female defence workers represents the importance women played in stepping up to US Army at the time. She may still be considered the most iconic wearer of a jumpsuit to date, even though the image was created almost 60 years ago in 1942 by artist J.Howard Miller.

When thinking of jumpsuits and those who have worn them; it is hard to go past the pop-star, Cher. By the ’70s jumpsuits were seen as a unique unisex garment; with many being tight-fitting and accentuated with sleeves and pant flares. Along with Cher; many other pop stars like Mick Jagger and ABBA were seen wearing jumpsuits performing on stage more often than not.

Who said that you needed to get hitched in a big white dress?

Move over ballgown; many brides are swapping trains for sleek and elegant jumpsuits on their big day. Needing inspiration? Look no further than Beyonce’s younger sister; Solange Knowles. Solange opted for a plunging V neckline in the cream jumpsuit designed by Stéphane Rolland. The cape feature brought the kind of romanticism and beauty all brides dream of.

Modern style icons; the Hadid sisters have been known to sport a jumpsuit when out and about. Our favorite all-in-one jumpsuit sported by Gigi is similar to Solange’s cape moment; we loved the monotone jumpsuit she wore in the streets of NYC in 2019. The Emilia Wick stead jumpsuit made us fall in love with jumpsuits in the winter all over again. The tailoring used in the piece is a great example of how jumpsuits have evolved from workwear suits to iconic fashion-forward garments.

The last jumpsuit we can’t quite forget is the world beloved Princess Diana; who sported a canary yellow jumpsuit in the 1980s. We love the oversized lapels and tailored pants; her enthusiasm for color and pushing fashion boundaries as a royal is always remembered. This outfit is the perfect example of how jumpsuits can combine comfort and style.
